Exhibition: DRAGONS IN CARPETS!

The dragon has been a powerful symbol throughout the history of Eurasia. This special exhibition will showcase knotted pile rugs with dragon imagery from a diverse set of regions such as China, the Caucasus, Persia, Tibet, and Turkey. Pieces exhibited are drawn from several Bay Area private collections.

The exhibition runs during ARTS and may be seen during show hours.

Special Lecture:    Textiles Traditions of Pakistan

Cambridge, UK based scholar and writer John Gillow will talk about the rich textile tradition of Pakistan including Swat, Sindh, Punjab, Baluchistan, and others with examples from private collections available for hands on exploration.

John Gillow has written extensively on various textile traditions from across the world. A comprehensive list of his publications may be seen here.

Saturday Lunch Grill with Kayla, October 28, 12:30 pm

Saturday afternoon following the textile talk – Aside from her duties as a registered security guard at ARTS, Kayla, who we all know and love, is a professional chef. Come to the show and grab lunch! We are grilling chicken, mushrooms, and vegetables and accompanying them with a choice of salad. Both meat and vegetarian / vegan options will be available.

Grand Finale: Donuts and Bargains!

Join us Sunday, October 29, 5:00pm – 5:45pm for refreshments and shop for your last moment bargains as the dealers pack up at the end of the show.
